Lud
Dub (Cosmic Vibe Sound, Bass
Response Recordings) is a SF-based DJ & Producer with 15+ years
of experience in the music industry. Originally starting out as a reggae/dub/dancehall
DJ, Lud Dub formed Cosmic Vibe Sound w/ best friends Urbun & Billy
Culture in 1992, with a focus on spreading uplifting music with a message.
With the introduction of the new millennium, Lud Dub started branching out into Nu-Skool Breaks, with appearances @ the Mighty Breaks parties in SF, WMC in Miami, and headlining Kulture de Karnival in Berlin, Germany. Along w/ playing locally and abroad, he hosted a weekly internet-based Nu-Skool Breaks radio show called NetAmp Radio for 3+ years, with guests as diverse as Soul of Man, Disco D, Nick Thayer, and Kraddy. In '05 Lud Dub incorporated sub bass genres Dubstep and Grime into his DJ sets, going full circle to feature Reggae, Dancehall, Dubstep, Digi, Grime, and Dread Bass to his multi-genre/multi-tempo sets. He's been featured with Bass Music heavyweights like Mala, Plastician, Distance, Pinch, Caspa, Tes La Rock, Rusko, and Emalkay. He's also performed with Int'l Reggae acts including Mad Professor, Horace Andy, Mungo's Hi-Fi, Jahdan Blackamoore, The Mighty Diamonds, Steel Pulse, Michael Rose, Junior Reid, Ranking Joe, Tony Rebel, Queen Ifrica, Kenny Knots, and Top Cat. In '08 he co-started "Big Up Magazine", a quarterly print/online publication focused on Bass Music, Contemporary Art, and Street Culture. In addition to branding, marketing, biz dev, and content acquisition; Lud contributed feature articles, reviews, and interviews with Mad Professor, Adrian Sherwood, David Rodigan, Amon Tobin, Poirier, and Ras Kassa. Current sets include a diverse range of genres including Funky, Tropical Bass, Bashment, Juke, Modern Roots, Digi-Dub, Dubstep, & all styles in between. |
